On Opening the Sales POS with a New Transaction and Closing with No Activity
Once users are logged on a POS terminal showing hospitality types, they can open the Sales POS by selecting a dining table and selecting Open POS (for a dining table service) or by pressing the NEW button (non-dining table service).
The system creates a new transaction in the number series of the POS terminal and restaurant in question.
If the user closes the Sales POS without selecting any items, the following applies:
- The system initializes the POS transaction created when the Sales POS was opened, and reuses it when a new transaction is next created for this POS terminal. Thus, no gaps are found in the POS transaction number series for the POS terminal.
- For a dining table service:
- If the dining table was seated before opening, the dining table stays seated on closing with the same number of guests as before opening the Sales POS.
- If the dining table was not seated before opening, and the service flow's Table Becomes Occupied is When Guests are Seated, the dining table is seated on closing with the same number of guests as was entered when opening the Sales POS (if number of guests is requested).
- If the dining table was not seated before opening, and the service flow's Table Becomes Occupied is On Ordering, the dining table is free on closing with 0 number of guests.
