Setting Up Hospitality Types
Hospitality types represent the physical areas or units within the restaurant. Hospitality types are the sales types in use in a restaurant. Sales types can control prices, VAT handling, item stock locations and dimensions (Project, Department).
For each hospitality type:
- Pick an existing sales type or create a sales type that represents the hospitality type.
- Insert the type by selecting the restaurant and the sales type.
- Get to know the templates that are available and if you find one that you can use apply the template.
- If you don't want to use a template, decide on what kind of service the hospitality type stands for (Service Type). Just by selecting the Service Type, the program selects appropriate options as Layout View and After Transaction Posted.
Double-check:
- That the Layout View is the one you want.
- That After Transaction Posted is correct (returning to Startup POS or staying in the Sales POS).
Decide on:
- how the guest handling should be (Guest Handling).
- whether guest number or seat number is specified at order taking (Order Guest Marking).
- if appropriate, whether to use a queue counter for order ID or manual input by sales type (Order ID) (you can have the sales type request a description and use a queue counter as Order ID)
- whether the Sales POS should be opened directly on Logon, not the Startup POS.
For a dining table service:
- you need set up a dining area.
- you need to set up a service flow.
If orders are sent to the kitchen for this type:
- you also need a service flow.
- select the display/printing options appropriate (they depend on whether you are using menu types (starters, main courses...), quick service, or dining table service, and so on).
Once you are finished setting up all the hospitality types for a restaurant, you can:
- validate the setup.
- change the order of hospitality types within the restaurant.
- decide on how the types appear in the Startup POS when a POS terminal for the restaurant is run.
