How to: Create Pharmacy Product
- Click Pharmacy Products in the left navigation pane in the Pharmacy Role Center.
- Click New on the Home action menu.
- The Pharmacy Product Card is displayed. The card has these FastTabs: General, Form & Strength, Form, and Pharmacy Articles. Note: The Strength Text field is automatically filled when the Form & Strength FastTab has been filled.

Fill in the fields in the General FastTab as described in the following table:
Field Description Product ID Here you enter an ID for the Pharmacy Product. If a number series has been set up on the Pharmacy Inventory Setup page, the ID will appear automatically after you press the Tab key in the field. See How to: Set Up Pharmacy Inventory for more details. Description Here you type a description of the product. Strength Text Here you type in the product's strength text, for example 5 mg. Note: When you have filled out this field, the text in the Form & Strength FastTab is automatically filled. Product Type Here you select the product type, for example RX that stands for Prescription Items. Default Item Type Here you select the default item type, for example R that stands for Requires Prescription. Default Profile Here you select the default product profile. This can be useful and save a lot of work for the user when manually creating new products, for example setting up a default profile and posting groups. Substance Group Code Here you select a substance group for the product. ATC Code Here you select the correct ATC for the product according to the national medical list. NPL ID Here you enter the NPL ID for the pharmacy product. Original NPL ID Here you can enter the original NPL ID, if needed. The system stores one original number. License No. Here you type in the country specific number, usually displayed in the national pharmacy item master. Is Drug The value Yes should be selected for all Pharmacy Products. Is OTC Item Select this check box, if the product is an OTC item. Requires Prescription Select this check box, if the product requires a prescription. Antidote Here you specify if the product being created is an antidote. Exchangeable Here you specify if the product is exchangeable for another product. Reason Not Exchangeable Here you write the reason if the product is not exchangeable. Available Here you select if the product is available to be put on a prescription. Available From Date Here you select a date if you want the product to be available from a certain date. Sales Stop Here you select a date if the product is in a sales stop for some reason. Sales Stop Comment Here you can write a comment if the product is in a sales stop. Deregistration Date Here you can select the date for when the product was deregistered. Group Item Select this check box, if the product is an assembly product. Control Group Code Here you select a control group for the product, for example N that stands for narcotics. Special Drug Code Here you can define extra filtering on the groups, for example Blue pills. Daily Dose Here you can specify a daily dose for the product. This text also come directly from the issuer. Daily Dose Unit Code Here you can specify the unit code for the daily use, for example SPOON. Max. Daily Doses Internal use only. Max. Allowed Units Here you can specify the maximum allowed units of the pharmacy product to have in one prescription order. Warning Text Code Here you specify a warning text about the pharmacy product. The warning text appears in prescription order line. Search Priority Here you can set the priority for searching the pharmacy product when searching for generics.

Fill in the fields in the Form & Strength FastTab as described in the following table:
Field Description Strength Here you type in the strength of the product, in numeric form. Strength Unit Code Here you select the unit code for the strength, for example MG. Strength Text Here the Strength and Strength Unit Code values are combined and displayed automatically, Form Code Here you select the form of the product, for example tablets, cream and so on. Form Group Code Here you select the form group for the pharmacy product, for example TABLETS. Default Dose Text Here you can specify the default daily dose text for the pharmacy product. The text will appear on the Prescription Order when the product is selected.

Fill in the fields in the Form FastTab as described in the following table:
Field Description Generic Drug Type Here you select the generic drug type for the pharmacy product. This information comes from the Medicinal Products Price List. The options are:
- Unknown - the drug type is unknown.
- Originator - the drug type is a reference medicinal product.
- Generics - the drug is a generic medicinal product.
- Parallel Import
Parallel Import From If you selected Parallel Import in the previous field, you specify the country here. Contains Lactose Here you specify if the product contains lactose. Contains Latex Here you specify if the product contains latex. Break Packs Allowed Here you specify if the product should be allowed for breaking. Broken Pack Exp. Calculation If a calculation rule is needed for breaking the pack, you define the rule here. Default Break Item No. Here you can define a new item number for the pack, if the pack is broken. Approval Date Internal use only. Approval Procedure Code Internal use only.
- When you have filled all necessary fields in the Pharmacy Product Card, click New Pharmacy Item on the Home action menu.
- A window opens, where you type in the Pharmacy Item No. and click OK.
- The Pharmacy Item card opens for information to be filled in, see How to: Create a Pharmacy Item.
Note: There are two ways of starting the creation of a Pharmacy Item:
1. Click New Pharmacy Item on the Home action menu when you are on the Pharmacy Product Card, or
2. Go to the Pharmacy Role Center, and click Pharmacy Item in the left navigation pane.
