Substance Groups are groups that define the substances in a drug.

ATC Group is a classification of active ingredients in drugs according to the organ or system on which they act and their therapeutic, pharmacological, and chemical properties.

Control Group is used to identify if the drug is allowed on prescriptions from all issuers, or if there are restrictions, such as if the drug must be prescribed by a specialist.

Special Drug Group. The issuer can only write prescriptions for certain special drug groups. Note: The special group must exist before you can select this type of limitation.

To create a Substance Group

  1. Go to Departments - LS Retail - Pharmacy - Pharmacy Setup - Pharmacy Item.
  2. In the Groups section, click Substance Groups.
  3. Click New on the Home action menu.

  4. Fill in the fields in the Substance Groups table:

    Field Description
    Code Here you enter a name for the code.
    Description Here you write a description of the code, often the same as the code name.
    Language Code Internal use only.
    ML Description Internal use only.

To create an ATC Group

  1. Go to Departments - LS Retail - Pharmacy - Pharmacy Setup - Pharmacy Item.
  2. In the Groups section, click ATC Groups.
  3. Click New on the Home action menu.

  4. Fill in the fields in the ATC Groups List table:

    Field Description
    Code Here you enter a name for the code.

    Note: If you need to create a new code in the system, you must use the naming convention for ATC codes that is prescribed by the World Health Organization (WHO).

    Description Here you write a description of the code.

To create a Control Group

  1. Go to Departments - LS Retail - Pharmacy - Pharmacy Setup - Pharmacy Item.
  2. In the Groups section, click Control Groups.
  3. Click New on the Home action menu.

  4. Fill in the fields in the Control Groups table:

    Field Description
    Code Here you enter a name for the code, for example N for Narcotics or V for Vet.
    Description Here you write a description of the code, for example Narcotics.
    ML Description Internal use only.
    Narcotics Select this check box, if the group should belong to narcotics.
    Multiple Withdrawals Select this check box, if the group should allow multiple withdrawals.
    Print Delivery Report Internal use only.
    ID Control Sales Internal use only.
    ID Control Delivery Internal use only.

To create a Special Drug Group

  1. Go to Departments - LS Retail - Pharmacy - Pharmacy Setup - Administration.
  2. Under Pharmacy Item, Groups, click Special Drug Groups.
  3. Click New on the Home action menu.

  4. Fill in the fields in the Special Drug Groups table:

    Field Description
    Code Here you enter a name for code.
    Description Here you write a description of the code, often the same as the code name.
    ML Description  

    Special Drug

    		 Select this check box, if the group should belong to a special drug.
    Multiple Withdrawals Select this check box, if the group should allow multiple withdrawals.
    Print Delivery Report Internal use only.
    ID Control Sales Internal use only.
    ID Control Delivery Internal use only.
