How to: Set Up Serial Device

To set up a serial device in the Hardware Station:

Open the Hardware Station Management Portal in a browser (default location is localhost:8088) and log in.
Expand the tab for the serial device type that is being created (Serial device, Dallas key, etc) in the Device List, and click the Create button.
In the pop-up window, add a device ID for your device and the port number for the COM port that your device is connected to.
Click Create device, and then select it from the device list, and click Load. Now you can detect the device in the LS Central hardware profile.

Note: There is no default functionality that uses a Serial device in LS Central. In order to use a serial device in any functionality (other than as a Dallas Key), for example to log a user onto the POS using a RFID device or to use it as a fiscal device, a codeunit needs to be customized by your partner and selected in the POS Serial Device Card in LS Central BackOffice.
