How to: Set Up Predefined Comments
You can set up predefined comment strings. This can speed up the comment registration process and ensures more accuracy. This is very important when you are dealing with comments like allergies.
To create a comment category from an attribute
To link attributes to comment categories
You set up predefined comments through attributes with options. The options are the predefined comment strings. Once you have set up an option attribute you either:
- create a new comment category from the attribute. The attribute is linked to the comment category and they have the same Code
or
- link an attribute to a comment category
In the Comments page: When you select a comment category that has a linked attribute, a list of the attribute options appears. You can select one or more of the options. The program creates a comment per option selected.
In the Comments POS panel: Depending on how the menus in the panel are set up, you may have the following options:

Click a button that is linked to the attribute's comment category.

Select one or more of the options that appear. The program creates a comment per option selected.

Click a button that is linked to a specific option of the attribute's comment category. The program creates a comment for the option.

You can edit the option comments if further information is needed. For example, you register a Nut allergy option to a reservation. When you actually seat the guests at the dining table, you can add the seat number of the guest that has the allergy to the comment before you send the order to the kitchen.
To create a comment category from an attribute
- Click the icon, enter Attributes, and and select the relevant link.
- Select the attribute in question. It must have Value TypeOption Value or Weighted Value.
- Click the Process action, then click Create Comment Category From.
The Comment Categories page appears, showing the new comment category that has the same Code and Description as the attribute. The Attribute Code field of the comment category contains the attribute's Code. - Adjust the Description field as needed.
To link attributes to comment categories
- Click the icon, enter Comment Categories, and select the relevant link.
- Select the comment category in question.
- In the Attribute Code field, select an attribute you want to link to the comment category. It must have Value TypeOption Value or Weighted Value.
Note: It is not possible to link attributes other than option value and weight value attributes.
